OHS Juniors Information

PRIORITIES FOR JUNIOR YEAR  
 • Pass classes required for graduation • Earn best possible grades for college preparation and eligibility • Get involved and connected • Search college/career options • Make sure you are on track to graduate • Community Service (20 hours by April 1 of senior year)
 
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

Total – 28 credits
 
DUAL-ENROLLMENT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE:
• Olivet College, Kellogg Community College or Lansing Community College   • One class per semester during junior year   • Two classes per semester during senior year    • Grade of C- or higher may be recorded directly or as a G (credit) on the high school transcript   • Grade below C- will be recorded directly on the transcript  
• Student/parent is financially responsible to reimburse Olivet Community Schools if the student fails the class or withdraws after the drop period 
 
PSAT
• Optional test  • Wednesday, October 14 at Olivet High School from 7:30-10:30 a.m. • Practice for SAT • Information on strengths and areas of growth • Results are used for national merit  scholarship awards 





COLLEGE PLANNING: FINDING THE “BEST FIT” 
• Know yourself – personality, setting, large vs. small college, public or private • 2-year or 4-year college • Research your options  • Visit campuses 
COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVES 
• Many visiting OHS this fall • Provides you with more information about colleges and universities in Michigan • Check the announcements each week for listing dates and times that college representatives will be here • Sign-up sheets located behind Mrs. Collier’s desk • College rep visits, on-site admission dates, and college visitation days are posted on the TVs.

 
TRANSCRIPTS 
• Register at http://www.parchment.com • Enter your email address and password • Transcripts will be sent electronically  • You can print an unofficial transcript for yourself • College search options are also available on Parchment.com.

REMINDER
• Please feel free to stop in the guidance office throughout the year with any questions you may have or for individual help with your college and career plans
